Biographical Info
It’s probably no surprise to hear my own interest in art began as a child. I sketched through many reams of copy paper with my #2 pencils and Crayola markers in my elementary years. My father’s fascination with and plans for building cars and motorcycles surely fueled my own imagination and helped me develop a pretty good mechanical aptitude and design sense as a teenager. In high school, I eagerly took every art class I could, knowing the visual arts would be instrumental in my career path. I majored in illustration as an undergraduate, and later earned a master’s degree in art education.  I taught art for six years in both private and public schools in the Boston and Kansas City areas. All the while, I continued to work on my own portfolio. Today, I define myself primarily as a painter and show my work regionally.

Thanks to editor of KC Magazine, Katie Van Luchene, for mentioning my work in the August, 2009 issue. (type "Rick Wright" in the search box below)
